Summer Ranch Job - Jessica Lee

After an extensive 34-hour drive to the ranch, I was beyond excited to finally be at my new ranch job. Eager to explore my new home and meet the wonderful people I’d been talking with for months.

The words, pictures, and videos I heard and saw leading up to my arrival simply couldn’t do justice to the expansive view that emerges when you take the final bend down the long, gravel road winding its way back to the ranch.

The valley that nestles Red Rock Ranch, near Jackson Hole, WY,  is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and mountains. Grazing horses flanked either side of the driveway with golden sunlight hitting the mountains beyond the ranch.

From Tennessee to Wyoming

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been living and working at Red Rock Ranch for two full weeks now.

In one sense it feels as though the dust just settled from my drive in. After moving across the country from Nashville, TN, I am still getting acclimated to my new surroundings. Every step I take or breath of fresh mountain air I inhale, I have to remind myself, this is my new home, I get to live here.

The shock of being in such a beautiful place 24/7 and working my dream ranch job has yet to wear off, and I’m starting to think it never will. Everything still feels a bit surreal, like I will wake up at any moment back in Nashville.

At the same time, I also feel like I’ve lived here for years with the family-like feel the staff puts forth. The strangers I met 2 weeks ago are now incredible friends whom I’ve shared many laughs and great moments with.

The passion radiating from each and every employee is astounding. Everybody here is so genuinely excited about the work they’re doing and the place in which they get to do it. Whether it’s wrangling horses, hiking, helping guests, or cooking delicious meals, all of the staff members are pursuing what they love.

Getting to be part of such an eager team is a fantastic experience I look forward to enjoying this whole summer.

Dream Ranch Job

My days at the ranch have been filled with energy, growth, and fun. I’ve been fortunate in this internship to have vast flexibility and creativity with my position.

Each day, I get to be inventive behind the camera, photographing this magical place, the lovely staff, and our enthusiastic guests. It’s been a blast to take so many different types of photos here and try new styles of photography.

In addition to photography, I’ve been able to organize and run the Red Rock Ranch Store (check it out online ?). Coming up with marketing strategies and content has also been a great learning opportunity for me. I am a marketing and entrepreneurship double major, so the ability to delve into the ranch’s marketing and business side of things has been a wonderful, immersive experience.

I am so beyond grateful to be on this ranch, following my dreams, working alongside spectacular people, and meeting wonderful guests. I’ve been able to do so much in the past couple of weeks and cannot wait for all of the exciting things ahead.

I hope to see you at Red Rock Ranch this summer!
