A Wyoming family vacation unlike any other awaits you at Red Rock Ranch near Jackson Hole. We pride ourselves at The Red Rock Ranch for providing an excellent, safe and interactive Kid’s Program. This is the cornerstone of our Jackson Hole Dude Ranch. Children are an important part of the Red Rock Ranch experience.
- At the ranch kids love the freedom of just being a kid in the wide open spaces of Wyoming
- There is no TV or video games, but they will be busy with horseback riding, volleyball, pickleball, horseshoes and ranch bikes are available for all kids
- Children have their very own recreation room to enjoy a game of foosball or ping pong
- Kids must be 6 years old at the time of arrival in order to participate in the riding program.
Kid’s Riding Program – Ages 6+
Our Kid’s Riding Program includes supervised trail rides for children six years and older. All children ride at the discretion of our Head Wrangler whose first priority is their safety.
Competent Kid’s Wranglers lead the young dudes up various trails through mountain meadows and stream crossings to look for wildlife and search for fossils.
Teens may choose to ride with the adults or form their own riding group to head out with and explore the wonder of Wyoming out on the trails.
Full-day and half-day trail rides are available daily with the Kid Wranglers.
A supervised and scheduled Lead line horseback rides are offered for the smaller buckaroos around the barn area. The Kid’s Program is a completely supervised program during the day and certain evenings. Hands-on kids riding program includes daily care of personal horse, brushing, saddling, bridling and turn-out.
Kids must be 6 years old at the time of arrival in order to participate in the riding program.
Other Kids Activities
Wednesday afternoon we have games for the kids at Red Rock Ranch. Egg and spoon, barrel racing, donut eating contest have all been known to be offered.
We offer vaulting, “gymnastic” skills on horseback – participants will give a demonstration for parents and family on Friday. Other equestrian activities include a Scavenger Hunt on horseback, and painting horses.
Kids under 12 can accompany an adult to the stocked fish pond to practice their casting skills.
Other activities include a cookout, a kids-only dinner next to Crystal Creek, hiking, games and crafts, and vaulting practice.
Kids Under 6
Families who bring young children should consider bringing their own nanny/ babysitter so that you can participate in all the dude ranch activities. We can recommend a reputable nanny service in Jackson Hole. Depending on availability, onsite staff can also be booked for babysitting – please inquire before your arrival, additional charges apply.
